This is Turon, which is banana (because I couldn’t find plantains) jack fruit (also known as Lanka) and brown sugar. Which is then fried in brown sugar and oil. Which also made me realize that I never want to know what my favorite foods are made of lol! Anyways, this is delicious and reminds me of home. Really simple to make as well. Since I’ve been in Hawai’i, I’ve heard it called banana lumpia, banana egg roll and someone even called it a banana flauta. The banana lumpia name pretty much freaked me out and I hope I’ve introduced the traditional name to a few readers.
And if you’ve never tried it… Go ahead and add a little vanilla ice cream. Yum!
